How to remove the “Also on” link from a Facebook Page

Did you notice a new feature on your Facebook fan page called “Also on?” It has been called the “around the web” feature because it shows where your company is also listed on other websites — well, those websites that have partnered with Facebook, anyway. They’re listings of your company on websites like Yelp, where customers can comment on or review your services.

If you haven’t noticed it, you should check the left column of your page just below the “Likes” section. Not all pages will have them, usually only those with a physical location although that may not always be the case.

Businesses might not want to display these “Also on” links on their fan page for a variety of reasons. For example:

you don’t want to promote another website
you don’t like the reviews of your company there
you prefer to have all of your customer reviews in one place, and that place happens to be something other than the partner website shown
you don’t control the profile or the branding of your company within it

Fortunately you can easily remove this “Also on” feature from your Facebook fan page. Here’s how to do it:

Click “Edit Page” in the upper right of the screen, below the “Account” menu
Click “Basic Information” menu on the left of the page
In the Widgets section, unselect the box labeled “Links to other places on the web“
Save changes and view the page to confirm it has been removed

I’ve been looking everywhere, but can’t seem to figure out which websites do they do this for. Noticed the Yelp link on my page, but there’s gotta be more than just Yelp. Have you seen any other sites included in this?

Thanks for the question, Derek! The only other site I’ve seen displayed on a Facebook Page is SCVNGR. I hear Facebook has also partnered with a few other sites and display them as well. They include Foursquare, Gowalla and Booyah.

Make sure your business address is entered in the Basic Information section. I believe the widget only works for pages associated with a physical address. If your address is entered, make sure the check box next to “Links to other places on the web” in the Widgets section of the edit page is selected.

Also,since there are only a few partner websites that are included in this widget (eg. Yelp), you’ll need to make sure you’re listed on at least one of them for it to work. FB isn’t scouring the entire web for info on your business so you’re limited to just those few properties.
